From May 8 to 10, 2024, the beautiful city of Opatija was host to eleventh Croatian Insurance Days, organized by the Croatian Insurance Bureau (HUO), co-organizers from the Association of Insurers (HGK), and other partners. This is the largest annual event for the insurance profession, gathering over 400 experts from the insurance and reinsurance sectors, regulators, supervisors, and other related financial institutions at the national, regional, and European level.
Most of this year’s conference topics were related to climate change, IT regulation for claims reporting, EU insurance-specific legislation, and vehicle repair costs. The main focus was on climate risks with their increasing impact on society and the economy, potential prevention measures, and sustainable insurance solutions for climate change. The panel on insurance market perspectives discussed potential opportunities and challenges, as well as the impact of misaligned trends on the operations of insurance companies.
Discussions also covered the importance of recognizing opportunities and effectively managing claims in today’s rapidly changing world. The conference also provided an overview of European legislative initiatives relevant to the insurance industry, focusing on their regional market implementation. On the final day of the conference, participants also reflected on other current topics in claims processing.
